Guidelines for Nominating a Distinguished Alumni
Purpose
The D.C. Everest Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes alumni who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments, career and service to their communities represent the #EverestPride legacy of excellence. Awardees are recognized at the D.C. Everest Education Foundation’s annual ROOTS dinner and are celebrated in the main lobby of the DCE Senior High via the digital DCE Distinguished Alumni display.
Objectives
Awardees must agree to a confidential background check. Criminal activity may immediately preclude a candidate from being considered by the Selection Committee.
Award Selection Process
1. Nominations are due May 31.
2. Preceding the closed ballot vote, the members of the Selection Committee shall review each candidate’s application materials and utilize a rubric to determine significant contributions to society, including accomplishments, affiliations, service and career.
3. The Selection Committee vote will be completed by closed ballot and a majority vote of the members of the selection committee who attend the meeting. A quorum of members of the Selection Committee is required.
4. The Selection Committee’s majority vote signifies a final decision; no appeal process will be considered.

- To honor distinguished alumni of the D.C. Everest Area School District.
- To inspire current DCE students by showcasing the contributions of DCE alumni to our society.
- To foster relationships with alumni.
- To encourage community service.
- Any alumnus of the DCE District is eligible Nominees may be living or deceased (posthumously).
- An individual who attended the District for a significant portion of their education without graduating may be nominated and considered at the discretion of the D.C. Everest Education Foundation Board.
- At least 5 years have elapsed since the nominee's high school graduation
- Distinguished professional achievements and life experiences.
- Significant contributions to the advancement of others, especially the advancements of those who have significant obstacles to success.
- Exceptional service to and support of the DCE District.
- Significant service to their community, our state and/or our nation.
